CITIZENS FOR SUSTAINABLE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE
Citizens for Sustainable California Wildlife is a non-profit (501 c-3) organization with the purpose of insuring the maintenance of sustainable wildlife populations in California. The CSCW proposes to help accomplish this by returning wildlife management to the trained wildlife professionals in the California Department of Fish and Game.
We are concerned that the lack of management of predators may be endangering a number of natural species that include but not limited to porcupines, red tailed hawks, jackrabbits, grey squirrels, and mule and blacktailed deer.
Maintaining wildlife population is best accomplished by insuring a balance between wildlife species and their habitat.
To maintain a healthy balance between predator and prey, some predator species may require population management to ensure suitable habitat. The Department of Fish and Game should be allowed to authorize and enforce, carefully monitored and regulated sport hunting of the regulated predator. This should be based on continuous biological habitat and biological studies.
To help accomplish and maintain this balance, private landowners and rangeland managers should be encouraged through incentives.
Where current laws and regulations prevent private landowners from participating; CSCW shall take legislative actions to remove these obstacles.
Funds will be solicited to develop and initiate a program of wildlife management education aimed at the majority of California voters who live in urban environments and are far removed from the states wildlands and wildlife.
Monies remaining with CSCW after completing of its objectives shall be donated to the California Department of Fish and Game for purposes to be determined by the CSCW Board of Directors.
